Chennai: FMCG conglomerate, CavinKare’s Group entities, CK Group of Educational Institutions and HEPL (Hema’s Enterprises Pvt Ltd), organised the 8th Walk India 2023 campaign. As part of the event, over 150 beneficiaries in and around Cuddalore were donated with custom-made artificial limbs. The limbs were fitted to the amputees in the presence of the Chief Guest, Thiru K. Balasubramaniam IAS, District Collector, Cuddalore, Amudhavalli Ranganathan, Director, CavinKare Pvt Ltd & Executive Director – CK Group of Educational Institutions, Usha Guru, Director – HEPL and Dr. S Sunder – Founder & Managing Trustee, Freedom Trust.
Walk India is an annual CSR initiative of CavinKare, launched with the aim to support lower limb amputees from across different regions by providing them with custom-made artificial limbs. Over the last seven editions, nearly 700 amputees from places like Assam, Haridwar, Guwahati, Erode, Krishnagiri and Kanchipuram have been identified and benefitted from this initiative. This year, the campaign was launched in January, wherein employees and expert personnel from Freedom Trust were sent to personally meet the amputees across regions like Ayyanur, Akkaramangalam, Varinjipakkam, Semmandalam, Ammeri, Vadakuthu, Kudikadu, Manjakuppam, Vadalur and many other places around Cuddalore, to take impressions of the amputees and create custom-made casts.
Commenting on the initiative, Amudhavalli Ranganathan, Director, CavinKare Pvt Ltd., & Executive Director – CK Group of Educational Institutions, said, “Walk India Campaign is one of CavinKare’s many social undertakings that we look forward to every year. The response for this year’s camp has been overwhelming. We are pleased that this initiative has benefited over 850 amputees so far not only in Tamil Nadu but also from across India. We are confident that this will grow much bigger in the coming years. ”
