Gujarat: Cadila Pharmaceuticals has initiated an impactful project to enhance community welfare, which can be easily replicated in other places. The project involves the installation and operation of RO Water ATMs in the Bhetawada, Transad, and Virdi villages of Dholka taluka in Gujarat.

The RO Water ATMs have a capacity of 1,000 litres per hour; and have the capability to cater to entire villages. The facilities are accessible 24/7 and provide clean drinking water to more than 10,000 community members and 1,500 households at a token rate of Rs. 5 for 20 litres.

“We sponsored the installation of the RO Water ATMs, but we wanted to make it a self-sustaining initiative and give a sense of ownership to the local communities. The model is a win-win for everyone. The villages can take care of the maintenance with the money collected and villagers can get access to clean and safe drinking water. This project is also easily replicable and sustainable in areas having issues such as high (Total Dissolved Solids) TDS levels, contamination or pollution,” Dr. Bharat Champaneria, Trustee at Indrashil Kaka-Ba and Kala Budh Public Charitable Trust, the charitable arm of Cadila Pharmaceuticals

This project reflects Cadila Pharmaceuticals’ commitment to social responsibility and sustainable development to ensure the uplift of local communities.
