Mumbai, February 24, 2020: Durgadevi Saraf Institute of Management Studies (DSIMS), the leading management school in Mumbai, hosted the fourth edition of Cricket for Social Responsibility (CSR)in association with Rotaract Club of Bombay West from on February 22, 2020, at DSIMS Turf, Malad.
Cricket for Social Responsibility is a cricket league organised by DSIMS with a motto to raise funds to help underprivileged and to helps students of DSIMS to become socially responsible and contribute to society. The proceed of this event was donated to two NGO’s Nanhi Kali by KC Mahindra Trust (An NGO that supports education for underprivileged girls in India), and Annamrita by ISKON Foundation (An NGO that organises Midday Meal Programme for children).
Commenting on the campaign, Dr. Sarika Jain, Head ISR of DSIMS said, “We are proud of our students who had organised this event. B-school, Corporates and NGOs have their own strengths, and if all of them work together, it can greatly benefit society. We want our students to be socially responsible business leaders of tomorrow.” She also added: “This year we donated Rs 60,000 each to both the NGOs. I thank all the Corporates who participated in the cricket tournament.”
The registration fee for each team was Rs 10,000/- that was directly donated to Annamrita and Nanhi Kali on the same day by the winning team. Apart from this, the Institute also invited 30 school children from Bal Gurukul who had come through another NGO – IDF (Indian Development Foundation) for whom the drawing and painting activities were arranged. They also enjoyed watching the matches and interacting with the teams. Around 100 volunteers from DSIMS – MMS and PGDM programmes joined in to make this event a grand success.
Twelve eminent Corporates participated in the event for CSR-2020 were like UPL, Morgan Stanley, Nippon India Mutual Fund, Agility Logistics, Teleperformance, ZingHR, Mahindra First Choice, Team Global Logistics Pvt. Ltd, Mygate, Aries Agro Ltd, Mahindra Insurance Brokers and UTI Mutual Fund. Trophies were distributed to the winning team Teleperformance and the runner up team MyGate.
DSIMS has also organised such CSR activities in the past. Some of the past associates for CSR activities were Carnival Cinemas, Intellenet, Crompton Greaves, Book My Show, Mahindra First Choice, PepsiCo, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Jyothy Laboratories, Book A Smile, Sundaram Business Services, Morgan Stanley, Reliance Mutual Fund, BLR Logistics, UP, Zing HR, IndusInd Bank.
