Chakan, Pune, August 5, 2019: Huntsman, the global manufacturer and marketer of differentiated chemicals inaugurated the newly renovated Zilla Parishad Primary School building at Bhamboli Village in Chakan, Pune. The revamped government school building, renovated in association with Mitcon Foundation, will now hold a capacity of 120 students with Huntsman remaining committed towards the holistic development of Bhamboli village.
Huntsman, through its Corporate Social Responsibility interventions, remains keen to further education at the grassroots level, providing improved educational infrastructure for students aged six to ten. In association with ARCH Foundation, Huntsman has launched a programme with a focus on improving education, teacher capacity-building and activity-based learning. The programme will help children enhance creativity, improve basic language, boost mathematical and problem-solving skills and facilitate overall personality development. As part of the programme, teachers will be trained to implement activity-based learning. In addition to this, Huntsman will also focus on the overall development of Bhamboli village through enhancement of livelihood, agriculture and providing clean water.
Speaking at the inauguration, Harshad Naik, Managing Director, India subcontinent, Huntsman International India Pvt Ltd, said, “Education, health and environment are the three pillars of Huntsman’s CSR Policy. We believe education is the foremost right of every child. This initiative is a critical step towards the holistic development of children and communities. The inaugural event was graced by Bhadange, Chakan MIDC Officer, Sunil Kurade, Educational Officer, Z.P. Pune, Babasaheb Dhavale, Block Development Officer, P.S. Khed, Pune, Sanjay Naikade, Block Educational Officer, P.S. Khed, Pune, Prasad Pawar, Mitcon Foundation, and several members of the Bhamboli Panchayat.
In the past, the Anandi initiative by Huntsman has been undertaken in Baroda and Ankleshwar in Gujarat wherein the focus has been on improving quality of education through activity-based learning.
