Mehsana, Gujarat, July 4, 2018: Strengthening its commitment to promote Skill India, Maruti Suzuki India Limited along with Ganpat University, today organised a Certificate Ceremony for the first batch of students from Japan-India Institute for Manufacturing (JIM) in Mehsana, Gujarat. 254 students received the Certificate of Course Completion for skills in Japanese Manufacturing Practices and Processes, at the Maruti Suzuki-supported institute.
Japan India Institute for Manufacturing (JIM), Ganpat Vidyanagar, Mehsana is a result of a collaboration between the Governments of Japan and India to create a pool of 30,000 skilled manpower for manufacturing in India. By imparting skill education to the youth, JIM, Ganpat Vidyanagar, Mehsana, supports the Make in India and Skill India initiative of the Government of India.
The certificates were awarded by the Consul General of Japan in Mumbai – Ryoji Noda; Managing Director & CEO – Kenichi Ayukawa, and A K Tomer, Executive Director, Maruti Suzuki India Limited along with Dr. M S Sharma, Director General, Ganpat University. Representatives from METI, AOTS, Japan and Ganpat University graced the special occasion.
Congratulating the students, Kenichi Ayukawa, Managing Director & CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said, “I am happy to see the progress we have made here at JIM in just a year. Skill development at JIM is focused on employability. Besides core technical skills, we groom the students in Japanese Manufacturing Practices and Process that are very important for a person to succeed in today’s growing automobile industry. These values of discipline, punctuality, Kaizen will complement their technical skills and distinguish them from the rest. We believe that JIM at Mehsana is set to serve as a model for ITI education in the country. JIM will contribute to Skill India and help youth find gainful employment.”

Japan-India Institute for Manufacturing at Ganpat Vidyanagar, Mehsana, is part of Maruti Suzuki’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives for skill development. Maruti Suzuki has invested over Rs. Six Crores in setting up and running the JIM at Mehsana.
