RBL Bank Employees Cycle 1000 km to Raise Funds for Udbhav School in Hyderabad

Mumbai, March 24, 2020: RBL Bank organised a Cyclothon to raise funds and support girl child education in Hyderabad. To ensure that this initiative includes the main workforce of the Bank, they encouraged the participation of local employees for the Cyclothon. This was received tremendously well and the employees cycled on for 1000 km to live up to the name of this Cyclothon – UMEED 1000. 

 

Since its inception, UMEED 1000 Cyclothon has raised more than Rs. Six Crores from employee participation across various cities. This recent initiative was aimed to benefit children from the urban slums of Hyderabad. Udbhav RBL School in Fatehnagar, Hyderabad is providing quality education to girl children. Udbhav schools are catering to the educational needs of 950 underprivileged students and the numbers are expected to rise in the following academic years. The funds raised from this Cyclothon will be used to further develop the Udbhav RBL School and make it a great place to provide quality education.

 

Jasmeet S. Gandhi, a cycling enthusiast passionate towards contributing for girl child education, along with RBL Bank employees, led the Cyclothon to garner funds for Udbhav School. The cyclists from RBL Bank were joined by around 400 policemen from Haryana Police who cycled the entire stretch of Haryana to raise awareness and funds for this cause. The initiative was actively and enthusiastically supported by Rajasthan, Haryana and Punjab Police.

We have progressed a step further in our endeavour by recently opening Udbhav RBL School in Fatehnagar, Hyderabad. We applaud the cyclists from RBL Bank along with lead cyclist Jasmeet Gandhi who have tested their endurance and overcome challenges to raise funds for the students and help them lead their lives with freedom, dignity and equality.”

 

Tamannaah Bhatia, film actress added, “It’s incredible to see so many RBL Bank employees cycle together to support the cause of girl child education. Education is the most powerful medium to empower women and I strongly believe that every girl should have access to it. I have been associated with UMEED 1000 Cyclothon in the past too, and I must say that the team has come a long way. I congratulate RBL Bank for this initiative.”

 

Commenting on the occasion, Harish Kumar, Correspondent, Udbhav RBL School (beneficiary) run by IIM Ahmedabad Alumni Association Hyderabad Chapter Charitable Trust (IIMAAA HCCT) said, “IIM Ahmedabad Alumni would like to provide every child with the same opportunity that they got when they were young. We are very delighted that RBL Bank Ltd has chosen IIMAAA as a partner and Udbhav School as the beneficiary.”
