The announcement was made at an inspiring state-level event titled “Building Future-Ready Schools through CSR” held at the Raj Bhawan Auditorium in Dehradun.
The Hon’ble Governor of Uttarakhand, Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Under this newly signed Phase 5, the Parivartan project will bring its transformative impact to an additional 24 government schools — 10 in Dehradun and the remaining 14 in the Haridwar district. Dr. Mukul Kumar Sati, Director of Secondary Education, Uttarakhand, and Gambhir Agrawal, Head – CSR, Relaxo Footwears Ltd., officially signed the MoU.
This partnership marks a significant milestone in Relaxo’s ongoing mission to reimagine government schools as vibrant centres of learning, equipped with improved infrastructure, inclusive teaching resources, and a renewed focus on student empowerment. Since its inception in 2018, Parivartan by Relaxo Footwears Ltd. has already revitalised 104 government schools across the Khanpur and Laksar blocks of Haridwar and continues to inspire meaningful change in Uttarakhand’s education landscape.
Sushil Batra, Executive Director, Relaxo Footwears Ltd., said, “At Relaxo, we believe that the foundation of a brighter India lies in accessible and equitable education. Our vision is to enable every child in a government school to experience learning with dignity, safety, and joy. We are proud to partner with the Government of Uttarakhand and further extend our Parivartan journey to more schools, more students, and more futures.”
The event, hosted by Staff Officer B.P. Mandoli (SIEMAT), served as a platform for the Education Department to acknowledge and encourage meaningful CSR engagement from corporates across India. Relaxo’s Parivartan Project was showcased as one of the leading examples of a result-oriented, community-rooted school transformation model.
The core philosophy of Parivartan goes beyond infrastructure. It is about enabling real, measurable change — from improving classroom environments and sanitation to providing learning materials and running gender-sensitive programmes that support girls’ education. Importantly, the initiative has fostered strong community ownership by involving School Management Committees, parents, and local leaders to ensure long-term sustainability.Gambhir Agrawal, CSR Head, Relaxo Footwears Ltd., also reiterated, “Our long-term focus is on education and community development. We believe that CSR is about sustained engagement, trust, and the will to uplift. We’ll continue to lay the groundwork for consistent, positive change in education through Parivartan.”
With the signing of this MoU, Relaxo’s total outreach through Parivartan now extends to 128 government schools in Uttarakhand, touching the lives of more than 10,000 children, especially from underserved and rural communities. As education in India continues to evolve, Parivartan stands as a meaningful example of how corporate involvement, when rooted in empathy and shared responsibility, can become a powerful agent of social transformation.
