National: Srinivasan Services Trust (SST), the social arm of TVS Motor Company and Sundaram-Clayton Limited, is proud to continue its efforts towards sparrow conservation. SST has expanded its conservation programme from 100 villages last year to an additional 200 villages in the current financial year in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh, providing families with thousands of customised nests to create a conducive environment for sparrows.

Sparrows serve an important role in managing insect populations, which helps with pest control in agriculture and urban settings. Their loss could increase insect pests, thereby harming agriculture productivity and human health.

As part of the sparrow conservation programme, SST has been conducting community meetings and rallies with the support of local volunteers and community members to raise awareness. Additionally, SST has organised drawing competitions in schools to ensure that awareness begins at an early age. SST has identified Sparrow volunteers in these villages who will encourage participation from the local communities in conservation initiatives.

SST remains dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of preserving biodiversity and believes that these grassroots efforts can make a significant difference in sparrow conservation.
