New Delhi: In today’s world, sedentary lifestyles pose significant health risks, leading to diseases like hypertension and high blood pressure. These conditions have surged due to factors such as long work hours, stress, poor diets, and lack of physical activity. Misconceptions that these ailments only affect older individuals above the age of 45 or 50, contribute to the problem, leading younger people to ignore their health until symptoms worsen. These lifestyle choices not only harm individual well-being but also strain public health systems.

Recognising the urgency of the situation, the ‘Illness to Wellness’ campaign, a national initiative promoting healthy living and yolohealth, a healthcare technology company are successfully conducting a series of health camps to sensitise citizens on the importance of detecting potential health issues at an early stage. Serving as education, screening, and intervention platforms, these camps offer individuals the chance to assess their health and receive guidance on healthier lifestyles.

A one-day health check-up camp under the awareness campaign, was organised at Priority Health Care, Green Park, New Delhi on May 31, 2024, by Illness to Wellness and yolohealth. It involved free 32 Basic Tests and over 100 individuals actively participated in the screening. Beyond screening, the camp served as an educational platform, enlightening participants about the advantages of timely and affordable testing in preventing and managing health conditions before they escalate into serious issues.

The health check-up event held at Priority Health Care marked another event in a series of highly successful camps undertaken by the collaborative efforts of Illness to Wellness and yolohealth. Despite launching on March 28, 2024, the campaign has swiftly gained traction, with five camps already organised. This reflects the urgent demand and increasing enthusiasm for proactive healthcare initiatives among citizens. Preceding this event, a series of health camps were held at prominent locations, including Janpath, Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, Birla Mandir and Aggarwal Digambar Jain Mandir in Connaught Place.

At the Priority Health Care Clinic, basic tests including Blood Sugar, Blood Pressure, Cholesterol, and SGOT were conducted. Critical statistics emerged, indicating a concerning trend: over 23 per cent of participants were diagnosed with conditions such as hypertension, obesity, liver disease and pre-diabetes. What makes this revelation particularly significant is that these individuals were entirely unaware of their health status. They would likely have delayed testing until symptoms appeared, risking irreversible damage to their health. However, through the proactive approach of preventive health testing, these individuals now can take control of their health and prevent further complications.

Speaking about the initiative, Anil Rajput, Chairperson, ASSOCHAM National CSR Council, said, “I am really happy by the rapid and impactful execution of our awareness campaign, and particularly by the enthusiastic participation and heightened awareness of preventive healthcare among our citizens. These initiatives not only empower individuals to stay informed about their health status and take proactive measures to mitigate potential risks such as diabetes or hypertension, but also alleviate the strain on our healthcare system. With this momentum, I am confident that Illness to Wellness and YoloHealth will continue to organise numerous such initiatives, making substantial contributions towards fostering a healthier India.”

In the camp, yolohealth used its trademark product HealthATM to show how technology has evolved in delivering accurate health assessment reports. These HealthATM machines are designed to offer primary and preventive healthcare services to ensure easy public access. It is an aggregation of US FDA/EU certified IoT-enabled medical devices combined with yolohealth’s proprietary HIPPA-compliant software backend and cloud-centric platform supporting telemedicine facility. This pioneering endeavour enabled individuals to take stock of their health and make well-informed health decisions.

The ‘Illness to Wellness’ campaign was introduced in 2014 and remains committed to promoting health and well-being through empowering, educating, collaborating, and adopting sustainable health practices. Over the years, it has aimed to maximise outreach and impact, from organising camps and awareness campaigns to holding regular webinars on key health topics and developments with the clear purpose of raising awareness and providing motivation and remedies.
