Bengaluru: In observance of World Sight Day, Srinivasan Services Trust (SST), the social arm of TVS Motor Company and Sundaram-Clayton Limited, marks a significant milestone by honouring hospitals engaged in the extensive eye care initiative. Over the past three years, SST has collaborated with eye hospitals and organised eye camps across Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, reaching out to more than 60,000 individuals. SST’s collaborative efforts with various hospitals have resulted in more than 2,000 free cataract surgeries.
SST’s commitment to eye care extends beyond numbers, embodying a genuine dedication to community well-being. Collaborating with multiple hospitals across Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, SST has seamlessly integrated itself into local healthcare ecosystems. This effort has enabled access to eye care in remote underserved villages and fostered a sense of community health consciousness.
Sharing his views, Swaran Singh IAS (R), Chairman, Srinivasan Services Trust, “World Sight Day is a reminder of our shared responsibility towards vision care. Beyond the statistics, it’s about the lives touched and the communities strengthened. Our collaboration with hospitals reflects our collective commitment towards creating health awareness amongst the communities. We are grateful for the unwavering support of our hospital partners who share our commitment to improving the lives of the communities we serve. In the coming years, we would like to take eye care of all the children in schools in villages where we work and create cataract-free villages. We look forward to our partners for their unwavering support and continued collaboration for the greater well-being of the communities. To mark this occasion, SST is setting up a vision centre at Sirkazhi, Mayiladuthurai district along with Sankara Eye Foundation, Coimbatore.”
