Bengaluru, October 28, 2020: As the novel coronavirus continues to spread, ACT Fibernet in its effort to help combat the virus, has joined hands with the Government of Tamil Nadu and donated two first-of-its-kind modular ICU units. Each of the units is equipped with modern facilities and will be installed at the Government Kilpauk Medical College, Chennai to treat COVID-19 cases. The modular ICU units were inaugurated by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Edappadi K. Palaniswami, through a virtual event in the presence of eminent dignitaries including Dr C. Vijaya Baskar, State Minister of Health & Family Welfare, K. Shanmugam, Chief Secretary, Tamil Nadu and J. Radhakrishnan, Health Secretary, Tamil Nadu.

With restrictions on ‘stay at home’ being waived across the country and people returning to pre-lockdown life, India is witnessing a massive surge in COVID-19 cases. While the government is relentlessly working with healthcare providers, industry and academia to develop a vaccine, the need of the hour is to collaborate with the ecosystem and help the community at large fight COVID-19. ACT Fibernet has extended support through contributing these first of its kind modular ICU units that will enable healthcare providers to diagnose and treat patients effectively.

Each unit has five beds with state-of-the-art facilities, medical air-conditioned to maintain 22-25 Deg C, provision to provide 12-16 fresh air, HEPA filter with Efficiency: 99.999 per cent down to 0.3μ and pre and inter filter specialised AHU and refrigeration to cater to the high demand and contained UV treatment to kill pathogens in the supply and exhaust air.

“During this challenging time, one of our top priorities is to extend support to the community we operate in and help fight this life-threatening virus. We are honoured to assist the Tamil Nadu government and contribute towards this cause. We hope this will help meet the requirement to treat virus affected patients to an extent,” said Bala Malladi, Chief Executive Officer, Atria Convergence Technologies Ltd.

ACT Fibernet is strongly driven towards supporting the efforts of various state governments to curb the novel coronavirus. Earlier in September, ACT Fibernet donated 25,000 rapid antigen testing kits to the Government of Telangana, one among many of its initiatives to help prevent the disease.
