Mumbai: Bisleri International, India’s leading packaged drinking water company joins hands with Child Rights and You (CRY) to launch a sustainability initiative under the ‘Bisleri Greener Promise’ campaign. The initiative would entail the installation of 1000 recycled plastic benches across landmark locations pan India. The unveiling event at Bandra Amphitheatre was inaugurated by Shri. Ashish Shelar, MLA, along with Angelo George, CEO, Bisleri International and children from CRY. The star-studded event was attended by politicians Milind Deora, and Poonam Mahajan and celebrities like Babil Khan, Geeta Basra, Shaan Mukherjee, Tanishaa Mukerji, Shreya Saran, and Terence Lewis, among others. The event was supported by the Bhamla Foundation.
Commenting on the initiative, Angelo George, CEO, Bisleri International Pvt. Ltd., said, “We take pride in becoming plastic neutral and water-positive organisation. This project of recycled plastic benches reflects the possibilities of plastic recycling. The infusion of artwork by children from CRY adds to the aesthetic appeal and honours their contribution towards building social awareness. The benches, an embodiment of sustainable living, not only contribute to the reduction of plastic waste but also promote social responsibility. Aligned with Bisleri’s environmental commitment, these benches are crafted from 60kgs of used plastic. Beyond offering an eco-friendly seating solution, they underscore the value of treating used plastic responsibly. This initiative is a testament to Bisleri’s dedication to creating a circular economy, transforming used plastic into everyday items. As a component of the ‘Bisleri Greener Promise’ initiative, the Bottles For Change programme has established connections with 680 educational institutions. Notable academic institutions, including Madras Christian College (MCC), Amity University, TERI, Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS), Manipal Institute, Punjab University, Chandigarh University, Galgotias University have joined hands with Bisleri International in support of this movement.
