Delhi, December 26, 2017: Lenskart.com, India’s leading eyewear company and Smile Foundation, a national level development organisation joined hands for Lenskart’s #BetterSight initiative. During this season of giving, Lenskart conducted a series of eye check-ups for underprivileged women and children. The association undertook an extensive free eye care camp under Smile Foundation’s Swabhiman – a women empowerment initiative.
The camps were organised on December 21 and 22, 2017 in Delhi and Gurgaon wherein they witnessed the participation of 150+ socially disadvantaged women and children. The initiative is targeted to provide free screening to a large number of women and children over the next few months and years.
Millions of people in the country require reading glasses but do not have access to them. With an aim to help drop this number significantly, Lenskart has been offering free eye check-up to help identify vision-related problems and provided corrective spectacles to them.
Speaking on the initiative, Mr. Peyush Bansal, CEO, Lenskart.com, said, “One third of our population needs glasses but does not have access to them. With #Bettersight initiative, we aim at making vision care accessible to every Indian. We are happy to join hands with Smile Foundation for this noble cause of providing professional screening to the disadvantaged women and children. We want people to recognise deteriorating vision and request them to regularly visit opticians for eye check ups.” He further added, “We will continue to invest in such initiatives to ensure that eye care becomes accessible to every individual in the country.”
Speaking on the initiative, Mr. Sanjeev Dham, COO, Smile Foundation said, “It is a wonderful initiative by Lenskart.com to raise awareness on optical health and making eye care accessible to the disadvantaged mass. I am thankful to Lenskart.com for all their support.”
To create awareness about regular eye check-ups and to ensure road safety, Lenskart had previously joined hands with the online cab hailing service, Ola, to provide free eye check-up camps to Ola driver-partners across Delhi/NCR. As a part of their sustainability and responsibility initiatives across the country, Lenskart has organised a number of eye care camps in the last few years, in different parts of India. A large majority of people have benefitted from these camps across cities.
